Over almost a month's worth of publication, we here at The Truth Hurts So Believe The Lies have made predictions. Some of them have proven to be correct, while others, not so much. It is now time for our monthly retractions, where we will take back our predictions that reality has proved incorrect.
Game Five Log of the Western Conference Finals
"The Nuggets aren't done yet, as they are a different team in Denver." Well that was proven to be wrong as the Lakers won that game quite convincingly.
Champions League Final: Manchester United Fan's Perspective
"United are the best team in the world." Obviously not after having been dominated by Barcelona in the final. Turns out my worries proved to be correct.
We are All Witnesses
As it turns out, LeBron's shot was not that important.
Papi Returns, Sox Picking up Pace
"It’s a relief for the Nation that David Ortiz has returned." It turns out that Thrift was wrong in prematurely labeling Ortiz who is now referred to more often as Big Pop Up than Big Papi as back to previous glory. Ortiz continues to struggle batting a meager .186, with a slugging percentage of .284 and an on base percentage of .282. In defense of Thrift, he was not the only person to think Ortiz had returned to his former self. Papi (or Pop Out if you live in New York) is one of the most beloved players in baseball and so naturally many called him back because they wanted it so badly to be true.
An NBA Finals Prediction
"Well there you have it, my impenetrable list of reasons why the Cavaliers are on their way to a franchise first NBA Championship." Again here you have a prediction that we were not the only sporting media outlet to predict. The Cavs mislead everyone with such dominating performances over the Detroit Pistons and the Atlanta Hawks only to be outgunned by the Orlando Magic in six games. Cleveland still has to live with the fact that its major sports franchises still continually fail to live up to their potential.
