Bron Bron Don't Shake Hands

Charlie Klein

Opinion

I am just going to post a quick rant on this. Quite frankly I am TIRED of hearing about how poor of a sport LeBron James is just because he did not congratulate the Orlando Magic after his team lost in the Eastern Conference Finals. Should he have shaken hands with Dwight Howard? Probably. Does the sporting media need to waste so much time talking about it? Definitely not.

Many "experts" in the NBA biz are labeling what LeBron did as a terrible thing but never write so voluminously about when players commit flagrant fouls on an opposition player. Apparently if you only paid attention to how much media coverage a thing gets, you would think that LeBron not shaking hands was worse than when Dahntay Jones tripped Kobe Bryant. Think about it. One was harmless and the other could have ended a career.

If I was a kid watching the end of that series, I would understand why LeBron was not ready to congratulate the Magic. Furthermore, people in the media criticise players who are friendly with players on other teams, either right after a game or immediately before it. That means they are soft! Until the media realizes the double standards they wield with their collective self-righteous fists, we will continue to be numbed by pointless stories that are absolutely meaningless.

Next time LeBron, could you please just shake the other team's hands, just so I don't have to hear about it for days on end? Thanks.
