Daily Fail: Carlitos Tevez

Charlie Klein

Picture this: you have two job contract offers in front of you.

Company 1: Offers world class talent with whom you get to work. This company has enjoyed success in the short term as well as in its past. It has a fantastic reputation for being a destination of any man with an irrepressible ambition. Your boss at this company is a man that shares your passion for your craft and has massive experience in the field. This company is known for paying its employees well and also treats them to numerous trips abroad.

Company 2: Was recently bought out by rich foreigners. This company has more employee turnover than a McDonald's restaurant. Furthermore, the people with whom you have the opportunity to work are strictly there for their pay packet. There is little loyalty to the shareholders, who have not tasted company profits for many years. You will be the star employee, surely, but how much fun would that be? Additionally, you will be within close proximity of Company 1 so you will be all too aware of what you could be missing. That being said, this company can afford to pay you beyond your wildest dreams. Also, you can forget about ever being away from your children for very long, this company does not treat those under its employ with paid trips abroad. May as well leave your passport in your back drawer, you'll never need it here.

Would you not rather work for Company 1? I know that I would. But Carlitos Tevez seems to prefer the opposite, and that is why he is today's fail. British radio station talkSPORT has reported that Tevez is bound for Company 2, Manchester City, the deal having already been signed by the man referred to as El Apache. Carlitos turned down the offer to return to Company 1 (Manchester United) and cites the fact that he does not get enough time in the spotlight as his reason for leaving.

As a Manchester United supporter, I am at a total loss as to why he wants to leave. His desire of guaranteed first team football is not uniquely offered by City nor is his desire to remain in England uniquely offered by City. The only thing the Citizens can offer him is more money. And if that is the reason, then all of my love for him as a force for United is gone faster than a free three piece fried chicken meal in southeast D.C. City is so clearly a step down that Tevez is destined for nothing but frustration as he watches United go on to win more trophies without him. No one will remember Tevez when United win the league again. If he thinks that he is the key to United's success, which he surely believes is true, he is gravely mistaken. He will be like the kid watching the greatest party in the world from his bedroom window down the street. So long Carlitos, thank you for all of the memories. You will not be missed.
